The Core Truth: Business is Ministry

At our recent CMB Networking Lunch, Howard Partridge delivered a powerful and practical message that challenged us to rethink how we approach faith, business, and leadership.
His message wasn’t just inspirational—it was a framework for how to live and lead as Christian men in business.
The Core Truth: Business is Ministry
One of the most impactful statements Howard shared:
“Your business is your ministry.”
Too often, we separate faith from business—but Howard made it clear:
- You don’t have to choose between success in business and success in God’s Kingdom
- As business owners, we are already in full-time ministry
Every client interaction, employee conversation, and business decision is an opportunity to:
- Serve others
- Demonstrate Christ
- Influence lives
The 4-Part Framework for Kingdom Impact
Howard outlined a simple but powerful progression:
1. Identity
You must know who you are and whose you are.
- Your identity is not in your business performance
- Your identity is in Christ
- When you understand your position in Him, you lead differently
👉 Without identity, everything else breaks down.
2. Influence
Leadership is not about control—it’s about influence.
“Leadership is influence… and leadership is love.”
- You don’t lead people well if you don’t love people well
- Influence comes from how you treat others—not your title
👉 People follow who they trust and who they feel cared for by.
3. Insights
We are in a daily battle between the Spirit and the flesh.
“The one that wins is the one you feed.”
- Feed your spirit through the Word, prayer, and community
- Don’t rely on emotions or reactions
- Develop wisdom intentionally
👉 Consistency in spiritual discipline produces clarity in business decisions.
4. Impact
When identity, influence, and insight are aligned—you create real impact.
- You may influence one person—or many
- But your role is to be faithful with your platform
👉 Impact is not about scale—it’s about obedience.
Key Leadership Shifts
Howard challenged us to rethink leadership:
- Move from boss → servant leader
- Move from control → care
- Move from performance → purpose
He shared a personal correction:
“There are human beings in this building.”
Money & Business Perspective
Howard also reframed how we think about money:
- Money is a tool, not the goal
- “Money doesn’t make the man—it reveals the man”
- Prosperity allows you to:
- Bless others
- Support the Kingdom
- Create impact
👉 As Ambassadors, we don’t pursue money—we steward it.
What This Means for CMB Ambassadors (Action Steps)
Here’s how to apply this immediately:
1. Reframe Your Business
- Stop seeing your business as “separate” from ministry
- Start seeing it as your primary platform for impact
2. Lead with Intentional Care
- Greet people by name
- Listen more than you speak
- Treat every interaction as ministry
3. Strengthen Your Daily Discipline
- Read the Word daily (Proverbs is a great start)
- Stay connected to the CMB brotherhood
- Feed your spirit consistently
4. Audit Your Leadership
Ask yourself:
- Do people feel valued around me?
- Am I leading with love or pressure?
- Am I building people—or just building business?
5. Use Your Resources for Impact
- Be generous
- Look for ways to serve others financially and relationally
- Remember: prosperity is a responsibility
Final Charge
Howard left us with a powerful reminder:
You can be successful in business AND successful in the Kingdom.
This is not an either/or decision—it’s a calling.
As CMB Ambassadors, we are called to:
- Build businesses
- Build people
- Build the Kingdom
If you missed this event, make sure you don’t miss the next one.
