Be Found, Build Trust, & Stay Faithful
Faith Meets Strategy: Stewardship in Marketing
At the latest Christian Men in Business gathering, Israel Silva reminded entrepreneurs that prayer and stewardship go hand in hand. While it’s easy to pray, “Lord, please send me customers,” Silva encouraged business owners to see marketing as a form of stewardship — using wisdom, understanding, and community to manage what God has already entrusted to them.
Digital marketing, he shared, isn’t about luck; it’s about being faithful with the tools and strategies that allow others to find and trust your business online.
He outlined three keys every Christian business owner should master:
Be Found
Build Trust
Stay Faithful
Key 1: Be Found – Your Online Presence Matters
Visibility is the foundation of modern marketing. Silva emphasized that every business needs a “digital home base” — a website that clearly communicates who you are and how you serve. He compared this to the search habits of modern customers: most people will Google first, check social media second, or even ask AI tools like ChatGPT for recommendations.
To be found, he advised:
Claim your Google Business Profile so customers can verify your legitimacy.
Understand your audience. Choose the right social media platform based on who you serve. (For instance, TikTok reaches younger audiences, while LinkedIn connects professionals.)
Apply StoryBrand principles — make your customer the hero and yourself the guide. Clearly state the problem you solve, not just what you sell.
Key 2: Build Trust – Content that Connects
Quoting Marcus Sheridan’s They Ask, You Answer, Silva explained that trust is built through content that genuinely helps your audience. He outlined five key types of content that drive credibility:
Price – Be transparent about what things cost.
Problems – Address common challenges honestly.
Comparisons – Help customers make informed choices, even if that means listing competitors.
Reviews – Display testimonials proudly.
Best of/Top 10 lists – Curate helpful resources in your niche.
“People buy from those they know, like, and trust,” Silva reminded the group. Posting helpful articles, videos, and testimonials consistently shows authenticity and reliability.
He also shared a sobering insight: visitors who read 30 pages of a website were found to buy 80% of the time — proof that more valuable content builds confidence over time.
Key 3: Stay Faithful – Follow Up and Serve Well
The third key is all about follow-up — staying consistent, keeping promises, and serving customers well. “Deliver on what you say you’ll do,” Silva said, pointing out that even a delayed email or unfulfilled download can break trust.
He illustrated faithfulness through customer service: when Starbucks makes a drink wrong, they make it right. Likewise, Christian business owners should reflect the heart of Christ in their service — humble, responsive, and committed to excellence.
Follow-up also means nurturing leads, not manipulating them. Sending thank-you notes, birthday cards, or surveys after a sale keeps you top of mind. “Marketing is ministry when it’s done with a servant’s heart,” Silva said, referencing Jesus’ words: “The greatest among you will be the servant of all.”
The Parable of the Sower – A Marketing Lesson
In one of the most memorable moments, Silva compared marketing to Jesus’ Parable of the Sower.
No online presence is like seed on the path — the birds (competitors) take it away.
Shallow posts are like seeds in rocky soil — they sprout quickly but fade with inconsistency.
Distractions choke results, just as thorns choke the plant.
But consistent, faith-filled marketing — rooted in value and service — yields a harvest thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold.
Putting It All Together: Habits, Systems, and Accountability
Silva closed with three practical steps for implementation:
Habits – Replace idle time with intentional learning.
Systems – Use tools like Zoho One or a CRM to automate follow-up and manage leads effectively.
Accountability – Join a business group or challenge that helps you stay consistent and supported.
His final encouragement was simple yet powerful:
“Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep serving.Marketing done faithfully is just another way to glorify God through your business.”
